FLIGHT 1

1997 La Rioja Alta Rioja Gran Reserva 904 – Spain, La Rioja, Rioja Dusty and earthy on the nose, with cherry and raspberry, coffee and leather, and a bit of bittersweet chocolate at the end. Rich and juicy on the palate, with lots of earth and coffee notes. It finishes with a nice mix of leather and chocolate. (92 Points)

2000 Château Smith Haut Lafitte – France, Bordeaux, Graves, Pessac-Léognan Coffee and espresso on the nose, with green veg and cherry. Coffee and mocha on the palate, with some veg and cheery at the end. (91 Points)

2006 Ciacci Piccolomini d’Aragona Brunello di Montalcino – Italy, Tuscany, Montalcino, Brunello di Montalcino Cherry and leather on the nose, with some pepper and game. Leather and cherry on the palate, with some spice and game on he finish. (90 Points)

2009 Weingut Darting Pinot Meunier trocken – Germany, Pfalz Cherry and earth on the nose, width spice and floral notes. Cherry and spice on the palate, with forest floor on the mid-palate, and a good floral finish. (90 Points)

2010 Château Pesquié Côtes du Ventoux Terrasses – France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Côtes du Ventoux Raspberry and pepper on the nose, with a little game and leather. Soft on the palate, with leather and spice, raspberry and game, and a slight floral finish. (90 Points)

2008 DuMOL Pinot Noir Russian River Valley – USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley Cherry and forest floor, some spice and cranberry, and some floral notes at the end. Cheery and cranberry on the palate, with some earth and spice, and a good floral finish. (90 Points)

2006 La Sirena Moscato Azul – USA, California, Napa Valley Melon and apple on the nose, with some peach and floral notes underneath. Lots of melon and peach on the palate, with a nice spicy note behind. There’s some floral notes in the middle and it finishes with some minerals. (89 Points)

2009 Robert Foley Vineyards Charbono – USA, California, Napa Valley Cherry and dark chocolate on the nose, with earth and leather, and some spice at the end. Cherry and milk chocolate on the palate, with some leather and earth, and a good spicy finish. (89 Points)

2005 Gaja Barbaresco – Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco Leather and dirt on the nose, with some cherry and spice at the end. Leather and cherry on he palate, with some dirt and spice on the finish. (89 Points)

NV Taittinger Champagne La Française Brut – France, Champagne Apple and bread on the nose, with pear and minerals at the end. Apple and pear on the palate, with hints of yeast on the mid-palate, and a good stony finish. (89 Points)

2008 Viader Cabernet Franc Dare – USA, California, Napa Valley** Earth and cherry on the nose, with some floral notes and spice. Forest floor and cherry on the palate, with some pepper on the finish. (88 Points)

2006 Domaine Leflaive Meursault 1er Cru Sous le Dos d’Âne – France, Burgundy, Côte de Beaune, Meursault 1er Cru Apple and little butter on the nose, with some floral notes and stone. Buttered popcorn and apple on the palate, with some minerals, and a little pear on the finish. (88 Points)
