2007 Bodegas Alejandro Fernández Ribera del Duero Tinto Pesquera Crianza – Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero A wonderful sticky nose of barnyard and leather, with a little spice and blackberry underneath. Very soft on the palate, it has more fruit upfront, with the earth flavors adding support to the fruit. (91 Points)

2006 Domaine du Pesquier Gigondas – France, Rhône, Southern Rhône, Gigondas The nose starts off with real licorice and damp earth, slowly adding cherry, chocolate and strawberry. Much fruiter on the palate, but it still has the nice earth and licorice flavors, but they are in the background. 90 Points)

2009 Terredora di Paolo Greco di Tufo Loggia della Serra – Italy, Campania, Greco di Tufo DOCG A rich nose, with peach and white flowers. More complex on the palate, it has nice spice mixed with beeswax, peach and tropical fruit, and a nice floral finish. (89 Points)

2009 Castello di Luzzano Colli Piacentini Tasto di Seta – Italy, Emilia-Romagna, Colli Piacentini Tropical fruit and peaches on the front of the nose, with nice purple flowers and a little spice. Slightly less interesting on the palate, it has lots of tropical and peach fruit, but not much else. Maybe a little floral notes. (87 Points)

2009 Piattelli Malbec Premium – Argentina, Mendoza, Lujan de Cuyo A simple nose of sweet red fruit (plum and cherry) and just a touch of spice. The palate was much the same. All fruit and a little spice. (84 Points)


2007 Peirson Meyer Cabernet Sauvignon – USA, California, Napa Valley A nice mix of blueberry and blackberry on the nose, with some oak and spice at the end. Rich and thick on the palate with flavors exactly like the nose. (91 Points)

2009 Paul Hobbs Pinot Noir Russian River Valley – USA, California, Sonoma County, Russian River Valley A big nose of dark cherry and raspberry, with cinnamon spice and dusty tannins. Soft and smooth on the palate with red fruit and baking spice supported by some earth flavors. (90 Points)
