2006 Marcato Colli Berici Pianalto – Italy, Veneto, Colli Berici The nose had smoke and raisin aromas, black currant and spice, earth, and a little cherry. The palate was smooth, with raisin and black currant, smoke and cherry, and a some earth on the finish. (90 Points)

2006 Bodegas Emilio Moro Ribera del Duero – Spain, Castilla y León, Ribera del Duero The nose had toasted herbs and smoke, black currant and tobacco, spice, and a little earth. The palate was soft with smoke and roasted herbs, blackberry and spice, and some tobacco and earth on the finish. (90 Points)

2006 Calistoga Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon – USA, California, Napa Valley The nose had plum and dark chocolate, toasted herbs and oak, and a little cherry at the end. The palate was soft, with plum and espresso, herbs and oak, and a black cherry finish. (89 Points)

2008 Caymus Cabernet Sauvignon – USA, California, Napa Valley The nose had coffee and chocolate, vanilla and oak, cherry and cassis. The palate was smooth, with cassis and coffee, vanilla and milk chocolate, and a good cherry finish. (93 Points)

2006 Robert Mondavi Winery Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve – USA, California, Napa Valley The nose had loads of perfumed floral notes, spice and oak, black currant and graphite, and a sweet vanilla finish. The palate was rich, with black currant and spice, pencil lead and oak, and a spicy finish. (91 Points)
