2005 Clarendon Hills Shiraz Brookman – Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, Clarendon The nose had olive paste and cigar leaves, blackberry and raspberry, and some earth at the end. The palate had blackberry, and earth, raspberry and tobacco, and spicy olive finish. (93 Points)

2005 Two Hands Shiraz Ares – Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley The nose had smoke and blueberry, pepper and spice, and a bit of raisin. The palate had blueberry and raspberry, spice and smoke and a great cherry finish. (93 Points)

2003 De Bortoli Noble One Botrytis Sémillon – Australia, New South Wales, Big Rivers, Riverina The nose had honey and beeswax, tropical fruit, and a little citrus. The palate had honey and wax, citrus and tropical fruit, and a a good apricot finish. (92 Points)

2006 Kaesler Shiraz Old Bastard – Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley The nose had toast and mint, cherry and earth, and just a touch of blueberry. The palate was rich and spicy, with blueberry and evergreen, cherry and earth, and a great toasted oak finish. (92 Points)

2000 Barossa Valley Estate Shiraz E & E Black Pepper – Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley The nose had blueberry and smoke, spice and earth, and a little cherry. The palate was slightly sweet, with blueberry and spice, smoke and cherry, and a little earth. (92 Points)

1996 Penfolds Bin 389 – Australia, South Australia The nose had dirt and spice, cherry and cocoa, and a little raspberry. The palate had espresso and cherry, dirt and spice, and a great raspberry finish. (91 Points)

2005 Glaetzer Godolphin – Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley The nose had blueberry and spice, cherry and earth, and a little chocolate. The palate had blueberry and raspberry, spice and earth, and a good blueberry finish. (91 Points)

2004 Clarendon Hills Grenache Old Vines Romas – Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, Clarendon The nose had licorice and blueberry, and a little spice, but over all the nose was pretty tight. The palate had loads of blueberry jam, licorice and spice, and a good earthy finish. (91 Points)

2006 Kalleske Shiraz Greenock – Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley The nose had spice and smoke, blueberry and roasted meat. The palate was rich and thick, with blueberry and smoke, spice and bacon, and a little cherry. (89 Points)

2006 Shirvington Cabernet Sauvignon – Australia, South Australia, Fleurieu, McLaren Vale The nose had toasted oak and black currant, spice and sour cherry, and a little blackberry liqueur at the end. The palate was rich and jammy, with blackberry and cherry, spice and toast, and a little earthiness on the finish. (89 Points)

2006 Giaconda Nantua Les Deux – Australia, Victoria, North East, Beechworth The nose had apple and buttered popcorn, some citrus, and a tiny hint of spice. The palate had apple and butter, spice and citrus, and a little lemon on the finish. It was crisp and clean and not as over-oaked on the palate as I expected. (89 Points)

2008 Two Hands Shiraz Bella’s Garden – Australia, South Australia, Barossa, Barossa Valley The nose had cherry and raspberry, powered cocoa and spice, and a little licorice. The palate had cherry and spice, raspberry and chocolate, and a black licorice finish. (88 Points)
